THE SCIENTIFIC MUSIC
LIBRARY |
Scientific and training publications department has collection of over 105,000 volumes of material published in this country in the 18-20th centuries (textbooks, monographs, collected articles, teacher guidebooks, etc) primarily on all aspects of musical arts, and books on theatre, ballet, history, aesthetics, linguistics and other branches of knowledge. There is a fiction subdivision keeping books of prominent publishers of St.Petersburg of the late 19th century - early 20th century. The department's journals section may be of particular interest as it holds almost all musical periodicals which appeared in St.Petersburg since 1860s, and also some other literary journals and almanachs like "Northern Flowers", edited by A.Delvig, "Nevsky Almanach", edited by Y.Aladyin, or complete sets of "Apollo" and "Golden Fleece". Virtually all musical periodicals published in Moscow and St.Petersburg from 1917 onwards may be found here. Also, there is a collection of dissertations presented in the St.Petersburg Conservatoire during 1940-1990s. The department keeps a main alphabetical catalogue and a systematic catalogue, as well as a number of card indexes. |
