Musical score publications department is the most important subdivision with a collection of more than 300,000 volumes. The department keeps musical score material of Russian, Soviet and foreign music of the 17-20th centuries.

Russian classical music can be found in publications of such well-known music publishers as Jurgenson, M.Belyayev, A.Gutheil, V.Bessel, J.Zimmerman, F.Stellovsky, Breitkopf and Gertel, and leading Soviet publishing companies. The library has complete works by P.Tchaikovsky, N.Rimsky-Korsakov, M.Mussorgsky, S.Prokofiev.

The collection has a great many publications of composers from Germany, France, Italy, Britain and other countries (including those published in their life-time and facsimile editions). The department keeps incomplete academic collections of works of certain major foreign composers.

Musical scores, score adaptations, piano and vocal compositions, chamber instrumental music, folklore songs, ecclesiastical compositions, and orchestral voices (the latter forming a special stock) adequate serve the purposes of training, research, and performances staged by the Conservatoire's orchestras and soloists.

The department keeps a main alphabetical catalogue and a systematic catalogue.
