Department of service of international centre of training
The library of the International Education Centre is a unit of the
Fundamental Library. The main function of this unit is to supply foreign
students with all the necessary literature. The most significant parts of the
library's fund are:
- dictionaries of various types and various languages;
- text-books and reference-books of Russian language;
- russian and foreign fiction in Russian and foreign languages;
- text-books on mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, technical drawing, history in Russian and foreign languages;
- albums, photographs, postcards used as illustrative material in studyuing Russian language and Russian culture.
The most remarkable feature of the library is that here can be found books
in a great variety of languages and also dictionaries of these languages.
There are not only many books in English, French, Spanish languages, but also
literature in many languages of Asia and Africa, such as arabic, dari, pushtu,
hindi, bengali, urdu, tamili, laotian, thai, cambudi, mongolian, chinese,
vietnam, suahili, somali, alagay. It allows the students to read Russian
fiction and literature on their specialities in their native languages and
prepare themselves to study in the universities of Russia afterwards.
Chief of the department of the Fundamental Library in the International
Education Centre - Ludmila Bazlova. Graduated from the Faculty
of Arts of the Leningrad State University in 1960. Worked as an interpreter,
manager of an iternational hotel in the town of Pskov. After the birth of the
daughter changed her occupation and started to work as a librarian. Works in
the Fundamental Library since 1981 and was one of the first to use computers
in the Library. Her husband is an engineer, her daughter - a student of
economics. Her spare time prefers to spend in the Filarmonic Society or the
Hermitage as well as walking along the ancient streets part of St.-Petersburg.
